Have a few questions.
« on: April 29, 2015, 03:52:09 pm »
Just noticed my boost gauge is giving me 15psi then in different gears its 11psi. it has a stage 2 map on it from rtech and it should be 20psi so i have a problem but not sure what.

I have changed the dv valve for a rev g and pvc pretty recently so i don't think its that. I was advised to change the air mass flow sensor so could this affect boost? i haven't had any eml yet, best place to find one of these that is cheaper than vw they want over £100 for one.

On to the next thing.

I have a service due soon. Lastyear i had cambelt/waterpump changed. Do they change the cam follower when this is done?

Also i want to change my gearbox oil. Its a manual mk5 gti, so whats the best stuff and whats the best/cheapest place for this?

Cheers

yes i believe a dodgy maf could affect the readings.

you can exchange your broken maf for a refurbished one at euro car parts for like 80quid or so.

before you rule the issue out as your MAF, have you checked for boost leaks?

So checked all pipes and doesnt seem to be a leak. Got a new mass sensor and still the boost is all over the place.

In 2nd i get 11psi in 3rd 15psi same in 4th. Its ment to be 20psi.

Think its off to a garage as i've done all am capable of, which isn't alot.

VW don't check/change the cam follower as part of any service so if it hasn't been changed stick it on the list.

And just a suggestion - as R Tech did the map it might be an idea to take it to them rather than another place that might not be familiar with what the software is asking of the hardware.

Good luck with it anyway :-)

Only problem with that is. Their 5 hour drive away lol.

Will get it checked out since am not that handy so i probably missed somthing. then see what they say and worse comes to the worse a trip to rtech might be on the cards. Seems to be running fine part from the boost.

Cheers will get a cam follower kit aswell.

Ahhh, that's quite a trip. Has the 'seat of the pants' performance dropped since you initially got the map?

A faulty MAF can cause all kind of symptoms, loss/sporadic boost being common.

Get a new MAF on and get some codes read for peace of mind at your closest VAG tuner/specialist.

It actually came mapped with stage 2 map from rtech. I had it in at tdi north and they checked everything and the map was all fine and i got a few other things done non map related. And it ran fine and was 20psi. They did say i would need a new air mass sensor which i've changed now.

Its ever since i got new air con compressor don't know if thats related.

Their is a few good vag specialists and am due a service anyway so going to see what the problem is and just get service etc all done at once.
