DSG up-swift problem
« on: February 08, 2010, 09:07:14 am »
When I use the paddles sometimes I have to press 2 or 3 times the up swift paddle to change gear.
Paddle Down swift and gearknob changes work fine.
Has anybody any idea what's wrong?

Sounds like a dodgy switch to me.

If it shifts up using the gearknob all the time, then it can't be the gearbox. If it's under warranty, get VW to lookk at the paddle. If not, you could alway buy a new paddle

Does the OSIR set completely replace the original, switch and all? I though it was just the paddle part. It sounds to me like Nikiforos problem is down to the microswitch itself.

Mine does it sometimes, i dont think its faulty just depends how hard/fast/where abouts i press as to whether it registers  :rolleye:

....In 80,000 miles I've never experienced such a problem. Sounds to me very much what Garth is suggesting - A microswitch related problem.

I don't know why but since I added these TID paddle extensions, paddle shifting is far less 'clicky' and feels more direct : -

I think the DSG has "intelli-sense" to delay certain gear changes depending on speed and revs...  :driver:
