Surrey Rolling Road - Dyno Analysis
« on: November 30, 2009, 09:07:14 pm »
Hi Folks, well the recent Surrey Rolling Road Day (which was a thoroughly good meet) gave me the chance to do something that I have been wanting to do for a while and that is to compare live logged data (logged through my DashDaq and analysed using Logworks3) compared to the actual recording Dyno run, in this case on a Dyno Dynamics Roller. Many of you will already be aware of how you can use the Mass Air Flow reading from VCDS as an approximation to bhp - by applying this formula BHP=MAF/0.81. So I thought I would test this theory on my car. Was only 2bhp difference between measured and calculated
Thought I would share that with you all.

very interesting...i wonder how a WMI could help u out then on a RR run.

But good to see that even in 3rd gear, the RR did produce near enough the same as the formuleric calc via MAF readings.

WMI would certainly give a better charge density, so long as your tune enables timing to be advanced, i.e. Revo  :happy2:

Does look like alot of the High bhp cars were suffering wheel spin and running in 3rd gear??, and would give lower torque figures which would answer why torque outputs were slightly down on some occasions.

Great info Dom :happy2:

the 279g/s you saw on the road must equate to roughly 345bhp then. great figures.

Not telling anyone what my g/s was on my last logs :innocent:
Golf R gone.
