Hi all, Ive got the normal problem of the three abs related lights on the dash. All come on after a certain speed obviously like they do when the abs sensor isn't working. my sh*tty code reader was showing code 00287 and 00290 which is the rear right and left abs speed sensors. The only issue with this is that I've replaced them both with a genuine parts and the lights still wont go away. I've deleted them on the scanner but the 00287 still comes up every time I drive the car ! The other issue I had was the handbrake light flashing with three beeps after a few hundred meters but thats stopped since I've replaced the sensors.
Why wont the code go away now I've sorted the problem ?

Usual issue with this is the ABS sensor ring that is built in to the rear wheel bearing.  This will also give you the 3 warning lights.
I've got the same warning lights on mine and it's going in for rear bearing doing at the end of the month.

It's annoying because there's absolutely nothing wrong with the bearing, but it's the only way of replacing the ABS sensor ring.

That's pretty cheap to be honest, won't be very good quality.
I wouldn't skimp on wheel bearings, you don't want them wearing out too quickly.

I've gone for the higher end bearings from Euro Car Parts

I'd +1 to OEM wheel bearing putting a smile back on your face. My indie see a lot of these across the VAG cars throwing up this fault. £320 is definitely a dealer price, mine was less than half that for the r/n/s. Let us know if it cures it...

We had this a few years ago, it turned out to be a steering angle sensor.

If it’s just the lights but no error codes, it could be the battery, a new one fixed it for us

My post from another thread…

Replaced the battery, it still had the original !

We had been getting frequent dashboard lights at startup (PowerSteering, ESP, Tyre Pressure) that would go away after a few minutes. Had it checked but no fault codes, mentioned that the electric windows were a bit slow to respond and he also noticed the ignition sounded sightly laboured, checked under the hood and advised that it was worth changing the battery as that could be the source of the issues.

Stuck with Varta as the original had been so good, got a slightly higher spec replacement for £81 delivered.
