cam chain adjuster

had the cam chain and tensioner changed recently, sadly after about a week or 2 the rattle slowly came back, ive been told its probably the cam plate seals loosing a bit of pressure, but im wondering if it could be the adjuster, and if its worth changing both to save on labour, vw quoted over £500 for adjuster, how many have had the aduster fail compared to plate seals
