Hey guys,

New on here so i thought i would create a little thread to say hi.

Currently driving an Audi A3 2.0 tdi sline. Looking at buying a GTI.

Went and saw one today and all looked great until i checked the dipstick and filler cap. The oil was emulsified and the guy apparently didn't have a clue.   :happy2: Good trade seller :/

On friday i will hopefully be going to look at a reflex silver mk5 GTI DSG. Anything to look out for whilst I'm there?

Cheers guys,

Graham

That gooey oil is usually caused by short journeys but not always necessarily short journeys. It wouldn't put me off a car but I would look into it more.

I'd personally prefer manual over dsg.

With regard to your other post on what to look out for, ask for repair or warranty of:
PCV
DV
Cam Follower
DSG mechatronic unit
Rusting - happens to wheel arches and inside doors

If you go for dsg you need a spotless service history on dsg gearbox oil service.

Additional spec to look for briefly is:
leather
highline clocks
xenon lights
upgraded headunit
18" diamond cut monzas (look out for white worm)
earlier 2005 suffer from white worm on rear boot badge too
MFSW
sunroof

I personally don't like silver, not sought after. Red is nice but prone to lacquer peal. Steel grey for me!!

I'd get someone with VCDS nearby to scan the car fully for any faults before buying. Usual fault is P0441 for evap control (not a big deal and most people ignore it).

Good luck!
