The 2.5 TFSI I5 Grail
« on: May 14, 2015, 06:50:05 pm »
I know this is of course in the TT-RS to date, existing and new RS3 and the RS Q3.

Does anyone know the VAG plans to feature this in other marques?

...And, as the R400 and Edition 40 are continuing with 2.0 flat 4 Turbo's, will we ever see it in a hyper Golf? Or even perhaps a hyper Passat, has anyone senior at Volkswagen hinted or suggested either way?

Is stuff like the S4 and S5 likely to get it in future, over the 3.0TFSI?

Cheers.
Pete

Just short of 600bhp. Sounds fantastic.

I'd imagine the 5 cylinder is something Audi want to keep exclusive to themselves, considering the UR Quattro, 7a, and all the rally heritage.

Epic concept car (don't like the rear spoiler though) - it sounds just like one of the classic Quattro rally cars when at full chat, albeit without the bangs!

Would be great if VW had this as a range topping engine in the Golf, but as said, I just can't see it happening...

There's a hillclimb on youtube somewhere, can't remember but it might be Berg? Dozens of group B spec Urs and S2s... it's just something else.

Closest I ever got to that 5 cyl thing was an 89 Audi Coupe 10v n/a. (KV) Sounded surreal but went nowhere fast and drank petrol. :-)

Apparently audi have no plans to give the I5 2.5 a power boost over the rs3 for the current generation of vehicles of that class :(
