Audi a3 1.4tfsi tuning
« on: May 14, 2015, 05:18:47 pm »
Not sure if anyone on here knows with it being a different engine to ours but thought I would give it a try.
Brothers just got a 2009 audi a3 1.4tfsi are they tunable at all? Obviously won't be as tunable as the gti / ed30 engine
But what gains can he see from the likes of a remap or TBE exhaust?
And who out there does it? Don't think r tech do.. Would be good if they did

If its the turbo only engine producing 122/125bhp then me and @rex have this engine in our golfs.

We managing about 160bhp with map and standard turbo.

Adding air intercooler, hybrid turbo and full exhaust sees 200bhp + easy. Theres one on VAGOC.CO.UK

Hope that helps  :happy2:

Yes it is that engine mate! Just helped him clean it lovely looking car and it drives really well it's not slow by any means.
Where have you used for your remap mate and any other supporting mods? Intake or exhausts?
Thanks for your help mate appreciate it not much out there on the net about this, cheers :happy2:

We have K&N Cold air intakes.

Iv taken the bluefin route and rex has Revo. Both of us are happy with the results and it makes a very capable car even more capable

Not sure what exhaust rex has but I have a R20 backbox and going to put a non res midsection eventually. Im not hardcore enough to use a different downpipe or decat it but people have done this on more heavily tuned tsi 122/125 with good results.

Im also retrofitting an air intercooler as the engine only has watercooling so itll become twincooled. Help keep temps down from the remap and a little bit of performance too potentially.

Theres lots that can be done but fact is not many people have bothered to do up these engines so writeups etc are rare compared to the GTIs and R's

Is there any off the shelf exhaust systems for these things? I think he will be chuffed with just a remap tbh then if he wants more he can look into intake and exhaust ect or is the standard intake very restrictive?
Cheers

Standard air filter is.

Cheaper than CAI is a k and n drop in filter and leave the lid off. Will get better sound and airflow and cheap. Cai setup is £100+ easy.

Exhaust systems arent too common for this engine so are pricey. The likes of supersprint and maybe milltek have setups. To be honest i think its probably cheaper and better to get a custom exhaust built at an exhaust shop specialist to how you want it and your requirements and will work out cheaper i dare say!

Do revo do a stage 2 remap or stage 1+ or something similar for cars with TBE exhausts and intakes?

No probs.

No these Revo/Bluefin "off the shelf maps" are for standard cars. They have other Stage maps for GTIs etc due to popularity but not this engine. So extra mods will help supplement such a map but will not make the most out of your mods.

If you want to make the absolute most power and performance out of your mods then only real route is a custom map from specialist tuners like @rtechniki  (Rtech tuning). Well priced, customisation and very renowned and reputable on here.
