can i fit 19s on a stock gti mk5 without lowerring it etc
« on: May 16, 2015, 10:42:04 pm »
hi there
just about to purchase a set of 19s for my mk5 gti which has 18s on just now
was advised by vw racing that the correct tyre size I am looking for is 235/35/19s
they have advised the following figures
5 x112
8.5 inch
Et45
I assume these figures are correct but my question is would I need to lower the car for fitting this size of wheel to stop it looking like the car is on stilts.
I have tried to look around to see if I can find a gti on 19s NOT LOWERED in comparison to one lowered but cant find anything.
I thought this would be a simple upgrade but didn't realise changing the suspension may ne necc ?
any advice appreciated

guys if you where here I would give you a beer and a lovely curry to say thanks,
comments and the link was soooo helpful
I think in the link the 19s look good, not liking the white wheels but that aside it looks fine, I guess a could lower it later as an option but at least I know now what it will look like.
I just found this video of the celebration or something gti ( have a watch ) and it is running on Santiago alloys which I have found on e bay for £500 brand new
yes they are after market but decent company it seems
look to me in the vid very nice indeed AAAAAND they are ET45s so no messing about there
I WILL have a look for original ones but wondered what your thoughts where to the wheels themselves and what size they are in the vid
link no 1 is the wheels for sale

link no 2 is the video

im drooling a bit lol

same here mate I thought the same after your comment but it looks nice in the vid doesn't it,
I will look for genuine ones but the after market ones are an option
