subframe bolt fix but still have clunking sound
« on: May 17, 2015, 06:09:55 pm »
I fitted the subframe bolt kit and spacers today as I have a clunking sound when maneuvering forwards and backwards at low speed. The noise is still present however, just wondering what else to check, Ive seen that strut bearings can cause a noise? How can I check these?

Think you mean the top mount/bush rather than the bearing itself from what your saying. Jack up front wheels and put your hands under the bottom of the tyre and see how much movement their is (push up on the tyre) or stick a pry bar under the wheel and do it that way etc

Check the drop links and anti roll bar bushes to

I had this noise then it stopped, I went over the subframe bolts, balljoints etc in the end I was thinking it to be the steering rack then one day it stopped and I haven't heard it since which is now about 3 months very strange but hoping it stays silent
