Advice - Exhaust damage
« on: May 19, 2015, 06:42:22 pm »
Hopefully the wise people of the forum will be able to offer some much needed urgent advice!

So this afternoon I got to my car after work and when I started the car the idle was high and the exhaust sounded very different when I pulled away. Something wasn't right and after calling the AA out, it turns out that i might have some damage to my exhaust (full milltek system). And while I know a lot of you will be saying its a good excuse to get a BCS etc etc I'm currently without a car at the moment. (I think its those ridiculously harsh speed bumps that my work has all over the place which might have caught on the exhaust).

So now I know Alex has welded up a few downpipes etc in his time, but I was wondering whether or not anyone could advise the best course of action to get my car onto the road as soon as possible with the least disruption. Is it best to take it to a local garage I know and ask them to take a look at it? Are these things usually something that can be repaired easily??

Any advice would be greatly appreciated, just hope I can get my car back onto the road soon!

Cheers
J

Search for someone who is an exhaust specialist locally and they shouldn't have a problem repairing it for you.

definately get a second opinion on a ramp, other than pulling a join apart i'm interested to know what you could have done (without noticing) to cause damage.

Yea that's the problem, Im not sure whether if it is some damage to the flexi for example how easy it is to repair and properly prevent it from happening again (other than rising the ride height :( )

Im sceptical whether those speed bumps at the speed I have to go over them at, have the ability to seriously damage an exhaust other than just knock the mounts/hangs out of place possibly. Ive got it booked in at one of the local garages who my family's used for a long time on friday so fingers crossed they can sort it for me! :sad1:
