Throttle body alignment?
« on: May 26, 2015, 12:12:58 am »
Hey guys, just a quick question, you see when you do a throttle body alignment on vagcom (block 060) is it the same as if you where to disconnect the battery for say 15 minutes.

I just ask because I am sure Revo suggest doing so if you are going to use the SPS to change settings.

Many thanks.

Good question.  I'm not sure.

When I replaced my TB, I was ready to do a TBA, but just allowed it to re-align automatically on Ignition Cycle and it started fine and has been fine with no errors since (years).

I don't think it is the same because if you look at the documentation supporting the alignment they actually state you should do the alignment if you have disconnected the battery.

I did mine last week and I couldn't believe the difference it made. So much smoother changing gears and no more jerk on/off throttle. For a task that takes a minute it's definitely worth doing. Whilst you are there you should do the fuel pump alignment too, although I couldn't notice a difference after doing mine.

So its easy to do? Is it just block 060? Can you do it with just the ignition on?

Do you know if it would wipe the revo software settings off? Scared to do it incase it take the whole software off

Very easy,

Prerequisites:

    Ignition ON
    Engine OFF
System voltage at least 11.0 V.

[Select]
[01 - Engine]
[Basic Settings - 04]
Group 060
[Go!]
Activate the Basic Setting.
[ON/OFF/Next]
Wait until Field 4 shows "ADP. O.K.".
[Done, Go Back]
[Close Controller, Go Back - 06]

Switch Ignition OFF.

I wouldn't have thought it would wipe them at all but I'm sure someone else can confirm for sure.
