quick oil level question
« on: May 25, 2015, 11:55:49 am »
So I checked my oil today and was just over half way, topped it up, now its a little over the max mark but just below the red plastic thing above the check level part.

Is this okay?? I was doing it slowly and kept checking but still managed to go over. :scared:

If it's just a little over max I would think this would be fine, it should just burn it off naturally so no need to drop any out. If it was halfway up the dipstick and a diesel then I'd worry a bit lol. You can damage your engine quite badly overfilling but as I said I'd think I'll b ok.  :happy2:

Yeh I think diesels are worse because the engine will actually run on the engine oil. So if you massively overfill them they will run themselves to death until valves and Pistons come out of the bonnet.
