Roof rack recommendation
«

Hi
So I bought a ginormous 6 man tent and this takes up most of the boot. As a family of 4 with 2 child seats, there's hardly any room left for sleeping bags etc.
Can people recommend decent roof rack/bars so I can stick a roofbox? I'd like something that won't cause any damage... I'm wary of the door seals being compromised as these go fairly easily from what I gather.
I've been eyeing up some of those Thule ones in Halfords. Any good?
Cheers!

Why not just get the OEM ones? Thule is another popular choice though, but can't seem them being as good as OEM

As above, OEM will probably fit the best but 2nd choice would be Thule. The door seals are fine providing the bars are mounted properly. IMO it's a sh*te idea either way, I'm sure they could have come up with something else.

Tip of today!
If you search eBay for them, search for Jetta bars (same as golf) but cheaper. I recently paid £41
for a genuine set of bars advertised as Jetta bars, Golf ones were starting at £70

^^^^Top tip
Only thing I'm noticing to be an 'issue' with the OEM I have is that to use some attachments like Thule cycle carries or roof boxes you have to use the T track system as the bars are to fat for the conventional around the roof bars fitment. So have to but the associated T track fittings

I got some whispbar ones. Very low profile to the roof and work a treat. Will try a post pic if I can work out how to!
Agree with the fact that VW could have come up with a much better idea.
