Monza alloy air valve
« on: May 26, 2015, 07:04:12 pm »
Just a quick one.

Recently just bought a spare BBS Monza 18" to replace the one which is suffering from whiteworm on my car.

Went to get fitted and the guy said he cant fit it due to the alloy having a smaller valve than the ones on my car, and they don't stock this certain valve type.

My car is a mk5 56 plate GTI. He ran the part number of my alloy and confirmed it was made in 2005?

Any one know the correct valve type for this alloy? Any help/part numbers be much appreciated.

Why not use the one from the old wheel?

Assume your car isn't fitted with tyre pressure sensors?

If they are hollow alloys il dig my old invoice out to get the part numbers. I had to order them from vw but they hadn't a clue what I ment when I was saying that my monzas where the 'hollow' ones. If like mine I'm 99% sure they are only available from vw.

If they are the hollow alloys using the metal valves the valves iirc are about 14 pounds from vw.

Yea it appears the spare one must be the "hollow ones" and will require this metal valve. Much appreciated for the thread link. Got the P.N from there  :jumpmove:

Im now assuming with a different valve type to the ones on my car that the alloy may not be the same as the ones on the car. Different , weight or strength maybe? Will this cause a problem?

Thanks for the help  :happy2:
