Does yours sound like a diesel when your driving at any speed? Mine just seems to sound like a diesel when its idle and once the engine is 70 degrees

Yeah only at idle don't hear it any other time.
After speaking to the garage they noted the cam follower and camshaft have been replaced at 72k by VW main dealer.
2 years warranty on parts and service .... Gonna have to check the date might be worth a go....?!!

Surely they would have changed the chain and tensioner at the same time.

How does this sound to everyone? The engine was warm when this was filmed and the car is due a service in case that makes a difference.

Don't seem to noisy , though mine seems louder when in the car ..
Just been looking on ECS Tuning site they do a complete cam chain kit with cam follower etc for £130 that includes the adjustor .??
Anyone used this .. It's a massive saving from oem.

The Ecs kit is over $250 when you include shipping which will be about £170 and it uses mostly non-genuine parts and doesn't include the adjuster.

So all is done and I am happy with the car, pulls very well indeed.

Cool!  When you say pulls very well indeed, was the car noticeably flat (off boost) when it made the diesel noise?

It wasn't flat, it still pulled, may have been me lol, just thinking it.

When I got it back and was quiet it just seemed to pull alot better, even the missus dad thought so too.  So maybe....

Makes sense as a sloppy chain can't be good for the variable cam adjustment!
