Chaps, long time no speak, how is everyone? I'm tempted to get back on the golf scene with a MK5, needs to be cheap so might be able to get hold of one but it's an MOT failure. Here's the fail list, what's your opinions on the faults and fixes? It's a 1.9TDI, 04 Plate, 166k, new cam belt 3 months ago, starts first time, drives fine? Here's the list anyway...
-electronic stability system warning lamp indicates a fault ABS Related?
-exhaust emits an excessive level of metered smoke for a turbo charged engine Possible Turbo?
-near side windscreen washer provides insufficient washer liquid Blocked Hose?
-near side windscreen wiper does not clear the windscreen effectively As above, or washer pump?
-offside windscreen wiper does not clear the windscreen effectively New blade lol
-offside stop lamp not working Broken bulb lol
-near side headlamp excessively deteriorated so that the light output is severely reduced TOOTHPASTE!
-offside headlamp excessively deteriorated so that the light output is severely reduced ELBOW GREASE!
Advisories were the following
-offside front lower suspension arm has slight play in a pin/bush Can get a new one myself
-offside rear position lamp has light sources not illuminating, but not more than 50% Easily sorted
-gearbox area very noisey (fly wheel needs replacing) How much is this? How bad if it;s not replaced?
Lads really appreciate any advice on ANY of the above to try help me before I go ahead!
Thanks
