Quite a bargain assuming it's not rotten! Mk2s seem to climb in value all the time.

cheers lads

bad news  :surprised: the oil pick up blocked and starved the engine of oil and its has done the big ends

so.. the engine has been removed and a mk4 golf gti has been purchased for 400 quid i will be removing that engine soon and fitting it in the mk2

as the engine is out i have decided to ditch the 8v gearbox and fit the correct 20v gearbox

i have had to buy

carrado gearbox mounts
cable shifter
seat cable conversion to change it from hydro to cable
seat toledo clutch cable tdi

also sold the 8v box for 50 quid so thats 75 quid the origional car stands me in

gave the 20v box a quick paint

I'd love to find a project like this - you're lucky to have the room and places to work on it! £125 is a bargain!!
Sorry to hear about the first engine - weird how the 1.8t is so cheap now. I would have loved for my old mkiv to be built into something else - I couldn't, but maybe someone else did...
Good luck with your ongoing build - looks like it will be a fun car!
