Collonite 476 newbie
« on: June 05, 2015, 09:31:19 am »
I don't know if this is me making a mistake or not but does anyone else find it hard to polish off collonite 476 after you have applied it? is this just cause I left it on for too long or is it generally just like glue to get off? by the time I'd finished polishing it off the car I had cramp in my arms it was that much of a workout  :sad1:

No I did a couple of panels at a time, that may have been my problem  :ashamed:

As Dan said really. Don't leave for more than about 8 minutes and you have to apply it quite thinly or its a basterd to get off.

You can get away with a couple of panels in the colder weather, if it's mild outside then your in for a hard time. It's a great wax though, you will see water beading for the next 6 months  :happy2:

I think that was my problem that I didn't do it when it was cold, I did it on a scorching hot day and tried to do a couple of panels at a time and it cured and set like glue it was a nightmare to get off  :sad1: Have to say the the finish once done is amazing! I used to use Autoglym HD wax but this has left a miles better finish imo  :congrats:

I think I did something similar - applied 476s and then left it on for something like half an hour to cure. You can imagine what a pain it was to buff off. Twas my first ever wax.

The GTI isn't just a machine. It's very much a living, breathing thing.

I feel your pain, it's a good job that the wax ive just put on will last for a while because after the effort it took to buff the 476 off it has made me feel like I never want to polish my car again, EVER!!  :signLOL:
