DSG Mechatronics manufacturers.
« on: June 02, 2015, 07:30:42 pm »
I am getting my mechatronics unit replaced via my independent warranty. The company have said that A1 Premier Transmissions can get OEM Units for less than VW can but they don't come in the VW Packaging.

They have told me categorically that they are not aftermarket parts and that they are not refurbished/rebuilt units but I am still sceptical!

Does anyone know if anyne else manufacturs Mechatronics units other than VW (or whoever makes the VW unit).

I would rather push for the VW item and pay the higher amount (I have to pay 20% of the parts amount).

Many Thanks

Sorry o hijack your thread but what's happened with your mechatronics?
Who's the warranty with?
How did they diagnose the problem?

Basically, tell me everything lol

Kangaroo-ing in reverse, Jerking in 1st, clunking when changing down at times. The car is completely drivable but the reverse gear does my head in and makes it look like I can't drive!

Warranty Direct

And basically tried everything else, checked fault codes (nothing), DSG reset etc, and my Indy knew this was symptamatic of the mechatronics anyway but had a head tech from VW verify and confirm his findings. A report was sent to Warranty Direct along with copies of my comprehensive Service History/MOT and they called through to approve my repair.

I too have been having the exact same symptoms, and I also have warranty direct cover. The garage that I have left my warranty documents with has been taking ages getting back to me as they are awaiting a reply from an engineer from warranty direct

Shouldn't take long - I would suggest that you chase Warranty Direct yourself.

I have been in touch with the garage this morning. Warranty direct have asked them to tell them why they think it's failing?!! How ridiculous does that sound? They have also asked for service history and mot, which I have faxed down to the garage

For anyone interested....I've had my mechatronics replaced earlier this week via a Warranty Direct policy. Supplied unit from A1 Premier Transmissions and fitted by my local Indy.

So far, very happy...no kangaroo'ing in reverse, no jerkiness going forward from a standstill. Feels a little less responsive but I am told that the car takes some time getting to grips with the 're-learning' your way of driving so I'll be driving a fair bit over the next few days to see how it goes.

Back in love with our Mk5 and can see us now keeping it for a while.

Excellent news for you!

I have been on the phone back and forward to warranty direct and my local indy, warranty direct have said it should be covered, they are just waiting on logs from the garage, the garage are saying they have sent them!!! On going now for several weeks, but fingers crossed I will have an answer tomorrow, as I kicked up a fair bit with both the garage and warranty direct this afternoon, but glad to hear yours is sorted!

Just spoken to them. They want 1200+VAT for a new mechatronics unit.
