Hi all
I have done my Intro in the new members feed (From EP3 to ED30 #1163) if you didn't see it please take a look. So just a quick one. My name is Rich and I've just made the jump from JAP to DUB. I had a Civic Type R EP3 for 10 years from new and loved it, but gotta say it's no comparison to the Golf.
Anyway that's all in my intro what we're really here for are the specs and pics as requested.
Spec:
Tornado Red 3 door
18" Pescara alloys - running MICHELIN Pilot Sport 3's
Half leather GTI Edition 30 interior
Manual 6 speed
Auto lights
Auto wipers
Convenience pack
Heated Front seats
Cruise Control
ED30 mats
Electric adjustable heated mirrors
Had a new engine 18 months ago under warranty so has only covered 12,000 miles
Cat Back PowerFlow exhaust system
Full VW service history with all the stamps
etc etc etc
I've had the ED30 3 weeks and already done a few mods with lots more in mind.
Mods so far:
Cat back PowerFlow exhaust system
(for now) although it has a lovely note to it
GTI Seat handle inserts
Pressed Plates
New US Style Smooth front grill
Black VW badge
(for now) Just had Matt black/red badge delivered so will be changing over
Red body coded GTI badges
For Front Grill & Boot Lid
Parrot MKI9200 Bluetooth System with colour TFT 2.4" Screen
Edition 30 Production Plaque #1163
haven't decided where this is going yet so still not fitted
GTI key fob stickers
GTI OEM key ring
New Oil filler cap
- original broken
Future Planned Mods:
Intake System
Had Pipercross Viper on the EP3 not sure what to go for on the Golf (Suggestions?)
Stage 1 Remap
Upgraded touch screen Radio/Sat Nav
MK6 MFSW
Lower
- undecided on springs or coilovers (Suggestions?)
Rear lower valence and Front splitter lip Black
- paint or wrap (Suggestions?)
Dark Cherry Red Hazard Switch
Edition 30 Badge for Front Grill
POLO 6R stubby Aerial
Xenons all round
Open fog light grilles
Chrome function buttons
New VW wheel centre caps
Just a few ideas
Pics:
How I inherited her -
How she looks after a few Mods:
To be fitted:
Few little more bits done
New VW centre caps as they were looking very tired - Old
New
New VW Dust caps
Edition 30 Badge for the front grill
Matt Black/Red badge fitted

Makes me wish I got red threads like this
I'd ditch the back gti badge for an original tho, to much red I think, looks out of place.

Nice Car
That was a friend's motor for a few years, he was the one who had the new engine fitted FOC following VW's negligence incorrectly fitting the timing belt/water pump.
Not sure if it was removed, but it was running Superchips Bluefin Stage 1 map when he sold it last year?

Looking really nice.
What are your plans for the black VW badge you have on it at the moment?
Fancy selling it? I've been looking all over for a reasonably priced black badge for ages with no joy!

Ah, right. I've done that before but I've always managed to get stone chips in it.
Might spray it again and double the amount of lacquer this time.

Looks like a lovely motor mate
I've used plastidip to make the lower rear bumper black, been on nearly two years and still looks like it did when I first did it. If I ever get bored of it the plastidip will pull straight off
There are some pics on my build thread early pages if you want to see the result.

I was looking at this on auto trader for ages, was very tempted to go and look but never did! I've ended up with a tornado red gti anyway after owning an ep3 type r for 3 years. Looking nice, best colour in my opinion.

Both cars just feel worlds apart. The golf feels a lot more solid and obviously comfier with the heated leather etc. Still miss my civic though
