thanks a mill Rex that's very helpful! My plan is to do max 1 track day a month and have only 1 set of tyres on monzas 2 so the tyres must be able to cope on wet/cold in winter months etc. Also I do 12k miles annually so ideally this one set of tyres should be ok for 1 year of driving daily and occassional track days.

My previous tyres were conti sports 3 and lasted around 25 k km and 1 track day.

Second set of tyres is not an option now as I will be doing only 12 track days max in a year. Unless I will discover that cost of regular tires due to wear exceeds maintaining two sets of tyres with new alloys as only have 1 set...

Well, my F1 Asymmetric 1 lasted 30k miles (and still had 4 mm thread when I sold them). During this time I've done 3 or 4 track days.
If I was in your position I would buy some F1 Asymmetric 1.  :drinking:

2. If you can afford to, buy both a semislick and a road tire. The semislick are far better than the normal road tire on a track that has very good grip.
Concerning longevity, I was really surprised of how well the Asymmetric 1 behaved. As long as you are not killing the car (mostly with heavy understeer) it should be ok.

I'd even say if you can afford semis you can afford two sets of tyres as well.
It doesn't make any sense to drive semis on street as they are both relatively
bad in the wet (at least after some heat cycles) AND expensive.

With track days every month (which isn't few) you'd most probably both miss
the grip of semis and wear your summer tyres more than most semis. To be
honest personally I find driving on track with street tyres annoying.

Get a soft summer tyre (good on wet) and a second cheap/used set of wheels
with dedicated tyres like AD08, R1-R, V70A or PS Cup. I'd even say "Direzza",
but I promise you won't spend the money.
If you need to save more money get some cheap 17" wheels. Tyres are cheaper
and there's also the Bridgestone RE070 available in 225/45 R17 at a good price.
Sadly they don't make it in 18" or in 235/45 or 235/40 R17 .

Just recieved some Michelin Pilot sport Cup 235/40-18" for the front and as daily drive tyres, looking forward to see if Tony is right about them, plan being they will go along to the track and be backup when the R888 wears out.  :happy2:

Pilot sport Cup now fitted, an easy tyre to fit and to my surprice i saw their treadwear is 80  :surprised:
Lowest treadwear i have seen before is 100 on the R888.

On the way home i didn't have to turn ESP off due to tyre slip as i have had to do with all other tyres except the R888, so looking promising so far

A fine choice, I love those tyres. They like camber to really get that sticky outer edge working.

I remember doing a track day at Anglesey when I first got them, put them on when it dried out and the difference from the PS2s was night and day. I swapped back to drive home and nearly understeered into the sea, totally had to reprogram my brain again.

Just to clarify Tony, is it the PSC or the a048 you are referring to?

Still one of the very best semis.  :happy2:

Just wonder why you wanna drive them daily, Jake. Or is it just kind of Danish humor?

I don't drive that many kilometers daily anymore and with the Lo4xx grip in the front tyres is a priority, besides they can be stand ins when i go on track days and wear my front r888 out  :happy2:

Hi Chaps,

Jus stuck a set of Advan AD08s on mine for the summer (few days we actually get) and there is a great difference between them and the Toyo T1rs that i had on. one there is a little heat in them they dont half hold on!.

I am running 17s (standars alloys) and bought the tyres early in Jan from blackcircles and they were £90 a tyre today they are £113.10 a tyre.
little tip, buy your summer tyres in the winter they are cheaper.  :happy2:
