Couldn't pass a GT GOLF?
« on: June 07, 2015, 10:52:25 am »
So this morning I was keeping an eye on a 05 plate 911 & Lamborghini (probably going to the Wilton super car show). These 2 quickly sped off, at a roundabout a Golf GT came round and I booted it to get past traffic before it became a single lane. This Golf was in front of me and I could not close the gap. Hit 80 which was enough for the now single lane. My wife finds it funny as I've just got it staged one & fitted a Helix clutch!. Time for a diesel..........

I once got cleaned by a diesel Audi A3 despite the fact mine is running 330bhp but it was in the wet and mine was just spinning and spinning in every single gear. Had it been dry it would've been a different story.

I'm not really surprised if it was a 170 with a remap, they have enough torque to move a house! Either that or your car is poorly?

Good excuse to do some logs. Did you get a new DV before the map?

But yeah, as has been said, those dervs can shift with a bit of fettling. And unless you're on a motorway the instant torque makes them rapid at lower speeds. I still miss my old PD!

Mate of mine had a 140 mk5 with a hybrid, mapped by Ben at Shark, and that was incredibly torquey. Think it made about 215bhp, but just so gutsy from low revs. Would definitely keep up with a standard GTI, if not leave it behind.

But.. remember we do get all the GTI trimmings, and our potential for power is greater at less cost.

Mine still makes me smile almost every time I go out in it.  I only know it as a standard GTs 140, what the last owner did or had done to it I do not know and I don't want to know  :scared:

I may get it put on the rolling road one day?

Nope. R-tech put in a new DV as I had a GFB item fitted and they wouldn't remap it until it was changed. This was a few (2-3) thousand miles ago...........

Is the golf gt a 2.0 diesel? How are mapped ones on clutches and do they come in DSG?

Wouldn't mind one as a replacement for my Gti, also what sort of mpg do they get in town
