Driver's door won't open
« on: June 09, 2015, 01:15:00 pm »
I'm off to see a Golf and I'm told the CAR HAS A BROKEN CABLE ON DRIVERS SIDE DOOR , AND WILL NOT OPEN EASY FIX

Sorry for the vague detail, but any clues as to whats likely needed to remedy this? Is the locking mechanism more likely to be at fault? If the door wont open how can you get access on a 3 door?

Thanks in advance

Heard of the lock failing a bit, which has happened to me but that's an electrical fault....

Rarely hear stories of them failing mechanically like that.... I'd be wary enough but at the same time any dealer could take the door trim off and fix it in 2 hours so ask for that.

Does the door open when using  the outside handle?

A vcds scan should tell you if the lock is inherently faulty .

This happened on my drivers door, scanned it and replaced the door module. Problem solved, there is even a how to guide on here that I used
