GTI K03 car won't start....
« on: December 10, 2009, 07:12:32 am »
....

I'm sat here waiting for VW Assistance/RAC.. Went to start up my car to then go to JKM and.. Ignition lights on.. Tick-tik-tik-tik-tik and no fire up. I'm guessing it's battery related or could be coilpack? Car hasn't been driven for a few days but is garaged.

I'll report here what is discovered but meanwhile if anyone has any clues or has had similar experience.....  :sad1:

Meanwhile : -

So its a ticking, not the noise of the car turning over? Yeah sounds like battery also.

Although the same thing happened to the Lotus last Winter, and it turned out to just be a little damp through a combination of the weather and no use, 1/2 hour of hairdrying the engine and it fired up without any problems!

....Or even gandered!

Something like this has happened before - My car doesn't like not being driven for even just a few days.

Yes, Chris, it's just tick-tik-tik'ing so the money is on the battery being the problem.

Although I have long hair I don't have a hair dryer. I wonder if the RAC man does!? "Ooooh, what seems to be the trouble, sweetie?"

99% sure its battery. mine did it when we fitted TFSI_mikes ITG. atnight. had my car parked with the lights on, thought i best run the engine for a bit and it just started to make this high frequency clicking noise.

you off to have your twintake fitted??

Could pay to pick up one of those battery charger packs or instead pick yourself up a new battery if it does that.

Mine started first time after 4 months away in iraq.

....Yep, Twintake is packed and in the boot. I'm hoping Kate can still fit me into their usually busy schedules later this morning.

....After 4 months! That's very impressive!

I think I saw a thread about battery chargers here but haven't read any of it yet.  :drinking:
