Problem pulling away(DSG)
« on: March 10, 2009, 11:29:23 pm »
Hi guys,

I've been having a spot of bother, every now and again when pulling away from a junction or roundabout I push the accelerator and nothing happens for a couple of secs then the car pulls away! Anyone know what is causing the problem..I'm guessing the DSG gearbox is to fault! My car is an 05 with 50k if that helps.

Thanks
Max

have you been for your DSG service yet? i think after around 45k miles on the clock you are meant to have one.

speak with your local vw garage

Any issues putting it in earlier for this? I am at 35000 and 6 months to the 4th year anniversary...

Presumably a DSG service includes an oil change? Its good practice to change gear box oil early on a new car, normally after a couple of thousand miles. Doing it at 10k certainly wouldn't be a bad thing to help wash out the swarf from running the 'box in.
Only 250.1bhp - but with that noise, who cares?

The DSG box does improve after a service but Hurdy had his done as a fix to try and stop the bit of slip he was getting, as he has abused his down the strip often  and his car has a high level of torque.

Ah I see - punishing a gearbox down a strip with less than 10k on it? At least it's being used properly!  :happy2:

The older 6spd DSG 'box on the GTi is wet clutch - correct?
