Spare Gearbox and Wavetrac coming - Anyone else got a Wavetrac?

Well I organised myself a spare gearbox today for the Cupra and it is being sent to a man very much recommended to check it over and install a Wavetrac diff.

Just wondered if anyone else has one as I am keen to know their opinion on it. Everyone talks about Peloquins and Quaiffes being so good, and with the Wavetrac appearing to be one step on, I am real keen to make sure I am not making a mistake

must admit on Mk5s ive only read about of a couple people with quaife diffs.(RR and JonnyC), one with peloquin(danGB).

never even heard of a wavetrac before. what is it that the wavetrac brings over the theother two??

Overall it appears to be be a step ahead of the others.

This month does appear to be an expensive one, but hey, you only live once!

My car is three years old in March and rather than replace it with a new Cupra R which is basically the same as the Cupra with the exception of a new inlet camshaft or a way overpriced R20T Golf, and ride the depreciation again on whichever one I choose, I will have a car which will leave either for dead, and because I will be keeping the original box, when I do come to sell it, it will get re-fitted.

At that point I will have a standard car and a pile of parts to sell on which I am sure will go like hot cakes including;

Gearbox with diff installed
ARB's
Exhaust
Coilies
Engine Mounts
Intercooler
Intake,
Fuel Pump
WALK,
Catch Can
Wheels
Brakes

and anything else I cant think of right now off the top of me head

Exactly the same as a Quaiffe or Peloquin - approx £700 plus fitting kit.

interesting. AMD said they would supply and fit a quaife for 1k. so thhats on my todo list til i find a cheaper option

I cant say for sure or from experience, but if the diff ends up being as good as the marketing hype, I would say that cheapest isnt always best.

Having said that, as I stay way up in the sticks, its best for me to have the box sent down, upgraded and sent back. At that point I will have the boxes swapped with a quick clutch renewal. Just to fit the diff is going to cost £180 plus maybe a couple of hours labour to change the gearbox so it will come in at less than £1k if you dont include the price of the second gearbox which I will get money back on anyway come selling time where you wont get anything back on your £1k if you sell the car complete with a diff

by cheapest i mean of either quaife or peloquin or VXR. neither are crap.

I very nearly went with quaiffe and peloquin - they are far from crap as both have been well proven over the years 

A gearbox is as cheap as you can find one mate. I got lucky

i bet there is pretty much nothing between them that the average person would be able to notice. you would have to be pretty track orientated to be able to feel anything more in one or the other.  VWR must be good if they use them in the race cars.

Do those JBS prices include the fitting kit? If not, that same diff can be had £100 cheaper elsewhere in the UK. I was quoted £400 to have it fitted to my car, drive in, drive out from possibly the most respected person in the business down in Englandshire.
