« on: June 11, 2015, 10:38:20 pm »
Anyone know of a good bmw m3 forum? Going to see one (e46) and was looking for a forum to browse though and get me in the know. Hurd they have a fault with the rear boot floor cracking  :scared:  :scared:

Anyone on here any views on them ?

Hi mate,I had a 2006 e46 m3 6sp man a few years ago...very nice cars with awesome build quality...the rear cracked boot floor is the rear subframe...lift the carpets up & check the boot floor for any cracks around the edge of the boot..
Also make sure it's done the running in service when new...also listen for any clunk noises from the rear that might lead to a faulty rear diff or might need a oil change
M3 cutters are a very good & friendly forum
Goodluck with yr search mate

Anything worth looking at has had the boot done by BMW on warranty.

If it hasn't, it isn't worth looking at unless it's super cheap. (and if it's cheap, does it have other problems?)
Sideways yo!

Cheers guys much appreciated  :happy2: il go have a nosey on the forums.

Dan930 - how did you find the running costs compared to your R ? The mk6 R is on my short list to. Toyed with other cars but I think it's down to these two only now, just the rear floor/subframe is putting me off a little and I love the R but think ATM it's a little pricey for me. Nothing else really I fancy.

The m3 is def more thirsty...even compared to my current state of tune(stg3)
The m3 is more thirsty...I get around 280max out of the tank
Servicing isn't cheap unless you take it to a bmw Indy...

Listen out for a knocking from the rear diff. It's a £2k fix  :scared:
