Touch up paint advice
« on: June 15, 2015, 08:57:41 am »
So yesterday I decided to restore the headlights on my car, it worked well and I'm pleasantly surprised with how much better they look. However when I removed the masking tape I noticed a few little nicks on the bumper just below the headlight  :fighting:

This was obviously caused by the cutting pad slipping off the headlight and cutting through the masking tape...

I can't afford to get the bumper resprayed although I will be getting a front end respray in the future due to stone chips so I was thinking about using a touch up pen instead.

Does anyone have any good techniques to achieve a decent job (I don't want it looking any worse than it currently does!)

Looks like you have done a pretty good job. I guess the blob and smear techique is literally what it says?! Blob of paint and then smear into the chip? or in my case cut.

My colour is solid black so I guess this will make it a bit more forgiving to work on?

It was ok until i put the orbital polisher on that panel. A lot of the touch up paint was removed. Still cant notice it though. My car has a lot of touch up paint from the last owner massive blobs of paint this kit is much better IMO. Blob and smear to fill up the cut.
