BBS CH 18" Are they genuine?
« on: June 18, 2015, 06:49:16 pm »
Hi guys,

Been looking at some BBS CH to upgrade to on my mk5 golf gti, which currently sits on monzas 17", reason for upgrading is i need new tyres soon anyway... Ive come across this set, and been talking to the guy and we have come to an agreed price of £500 for the alloys and tyres, now before i go ahead with it ive had a few people tell me to be careful of fakes, the guy says they are all genuine, they are stamped with bbs and the tyre width etc (still waiting on pictures of that) but other than that, can anyone look at these and tell me if they look genuine or not, whats the going rate for these in this condition? Yes they could do with a refurb but thats fine with me because i can do that myself before i take the monzas off. They also all have 7mm tread on, nearly new pirelli pzero tyres!

Im thinking the "motorsport" lettering is closer to the centre than mine. I got mine from Rimstyle  Its not just looks. The genuine ones will be better quality, lighter, stronger
How much will these cost when refurbished??

If say fake
Nobody would sell genuine bbs with Pirelli tyres for £500
What's the specs of them?

...I bought my genuine BBS (Edition 30 Pescaras) with tyres 2 weeks ago for £550 and they'd just been refurbed!

Also, there's a set for £600 on eBay which are definitely genuine - those ones you're going to buy *look* real going by the stamps on the inner rims and rear, but I'm no expert.

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/321785792527 Make him an offer he can't refuse...

I'd prefer those on my GTI to the MOTORSPORT BBSs any day.

They look original to me, BBS stamp opposite the tyre valve. On reps I've seen, that's not there

So much for keeping it standard!

Hmm, I've sent that chap a message on eBay about the £600 ones, as he's quite local to me aswell! They are definitely genuine? Would rather pay a bit more and know they are genuine!

Hmm I'm not sure a lot of people are saying they're fake, others say they're real!

They look genuine to me, but 18x8.5 ET35 will be a little wide for the Mk5

Ah right okay, I'm useless at this kind of stuff  would the edition 30 vw ones that have been shared earlier fit better?

For fitment? They're a 7.5j wheel - they are BBS CH-029 by the way. I just think they sit nicer - I'm not so keen on the look of the 8.5j as the centre cap is very concaved in in comparison to the 7.5j.

Here's a video for you showing the 7.5j Pescaras.

And yes, the ones on eBay are genuine.  :happy2:

So the upshot is, they're practically the same alloy?

The BBS ones are genuine (i think majority vote)?  :happy2:

They look genuine to me.
But you have a bigger problem with them. For sure with ET35 and 8,5J you'll get some rubbing on the wheel arch.
Is the car lowered?

Car is completely standard, not lowered at all! So these wont fit properly or?
