DSG upgrades

I'm new to the DSG world, aware only of stage 1 & 2 female for it. Are there any other modifications like clutch and flywheel upgrades as well, or are they pretty tough and able to handle up to stage 2+ (circa 330bhp/325ft lb)?

Standard dsg clutches should easily handle stage 2+ and more.

Plus, I don't think it's a matter of IF the mechatronics will fail, more so when!!! I took this into consideration before buying one hearing the horror stories on them!

However, that said, I don't think having more torque/power running through the box causes it to fail, but I am also still new to dsg!

That can be said for anything though, I think if you don't service a DSG system properly you'll kill it sooner, again you can apply this to anything. And truth be told, I'm not too scared if it goes on me, I'll just replace it and throw any upgrades in at the same time (hence the early research now).

I think they are called dobson clutch packs(won't be cheap though)

Also HPA do upgraded clutch packs too

Think Statler are UK HPA dealers, so that'd be awesome having seen their work on this very forum. If the 'box and clutch can handle stage 2 easy then that's something I don't have to factor in when choosing modifications to the Golf R.

I'd like to say it'll stay stock, but that's probably just lying to myself more than anyone.

You have no problems with stg2 mate
I'm on stg3 & getting a bit of clutch slip but the latest revised GIAC dsg map would solve the problems as it increases the clamping pressure

I was going to get Revo maps for my Golf R as I travel a lot so having the ability to tweek setting myself is great but I'm starting to think about GIAC software seriously.

Had a superchip's map on my Golf R and it was terrible(came with the car),I spoke to Steve at Staller's yesterday and it look's like Giac is the way to go.

I've heard from a number of owners saying the superchips map isn't good..
Best to go for GIAC or go custom map with R-tech

I wanted Revo for the wide support and SPS features but will read up more. Essentially though, a DSG software update for stage 1 and 2 is all I need, any higher and its a case of calling Statler, which we all know will end badly...

I would proberly do more regular DSG oil changes to preserve your Mechatronics unit.
Every 20 k instead of 40k.
This causes lots of issues with too higher oil temps and mech's failing because of it.

 

Your statement confuses me as oil isn't circulated to the Mechatronics unit...
