Now Stage 1
« on: June 27, 2015, 04:36:07 pm »
Made the trip down to R-Tech today for a stage 1 map. Only other modification is an intake.
I was told that I was running a Rev C diverter valve that looked like it was on its way out so they swapped it over for a Rev G.

Anyway, numbers...

Before

216.6bhp.       219.69lb.ft

After

251.5bhp.       305.53lb.ft

Car feels great to drive and now has the surge of power I felt it was slightly missing as standard! Great set of lads as well - very knowledgeable.

Did you upgrade your clutch, or are you still on a standard clutch?

I fancy going stage 1 with R-Tech but I'm worried about clutch slip. I don't really want to have the massive cost of an uprated clutch on top of the remap cost.

Clutch is standard and not slipping at all. You get 5 switchable maps so if you do get a bit of slip you can drop from setting 5 to 4 etc

I'm guessing the 5 switchable maps are for different power settings?
Did you have to pay extra for this?

Yeah just different power settings mate. You turn the key so that the lights appear on the dash and put your foot on the brake. You then use tap the accelerator pedal to choose the different settings. It goes up to 1000rpm on the gauge for setting 1, 2000rpm for setting 2 etc. Didn't pay extra either. It was £290 plus £45 for the new diverter valve including fitting. If definitely recommend them.

I've been running a stage 1 tune on my GTI for over a year and had no issues with the clutch. :happy2:

Moving over to Flickr, sorry for the broken picture links!

TCS mapping???

correct me if im wrong but is this just limiting the boost so you dont spin the wheels in each gear?
