Loving this build. Lot of research and money has gone into this. How much is the OEM turbo from TPS out of curiosity?

The turbine wheels are the 1

K03 to k04 is like night and day difference where the k03 spikes quickly but soon Tails off quickly where the k04 will kick in and just keeps on going and going it's rather addictive  just goes to show you can run a k04 turbo on a axx engine and still be realiable in saying that though I've done all precautionary servicing made sure everything was spot on before going to that level of tuning.

Perfect. That's exactly what I was wondering :happy2:

When I got my K03 "stage 1" mapped that's exactly what I noticed. The car makes a lovely dollop of torquey power between 2K and 5K but then just dies off. Exactly what you'd expect in fairness from such a small turbo

But I was surprised when my wife, who's not that bothered about cars, commented that it drives like a modern turbo diesel   Fair play to her she's pretty much bang on :happy2:

What power and torque are you running now Josh?
And, if you don't mind me asking, what do you feel are the most valuable safety/longevity mods when tuning an AXX K04?

I'm gonna follow your earlier advice and get rid of my revision D DV. Think I'm gonna go with the GFB DV+ and be done with it :happy2:

Nice work

Why change the engine though? For more power later?

My old axx engine had an uncertain past, it was removed at some point and rebuilt and not properly built and since I had a k04 conversion done it was highlighting lots of different things
So to play it safe it was changed and now I can go tte420 now

Nice Josh  :happy2:

I think the consensus was drive it quite hard on a new engine,  bed the rings in and stop high oil usage long term

TTE ftw  :happy2:

Is that a brand new CDL engine from Audi?  :surprised:  Dare I ask, how much?!!  Will your AXX ecu run it OK?

I've got a TTE420 as well but I've been pondering whether or not I should stick it on my 108K old BYD engine, which also has an uncertain past.

TTE420s see around 300lbft by 3000rpm and up in the 400s by 4000rpm, and holds a good slug of it to the limiter, so well worth doing.

I don't think even a CDL will hold a TTE420 indefinitely though, but it'll be fun whilst it lasts!

Thanks @fab5freddy I've used millers 10w40 running in oil for 30 miles then dropped another lot of running in oil and ran that for 180 miles then changed it for fully synthetic, now to drive it the Crucial miles for wearing in is the first 50 or so, I could see the swarf in the oil when I changed it,
@Pudding I'll buy your tte420 if you don't want it  I can pm the price of the engine..
I brought it from TPS also the ecu will adapt to the lower compression ratios  and it runs very well except the runner flap delete currently hasn't been mapped out yet..
cheers @ducman77 brought the engine from tps I didn't want to buy a second hand unit because you don't know what's happened to them
