Info on pressed plates please
« on: June 28, 2015, 07:47:19 am »
Do they suit the 5? with Inters less than a week away I might treat myself and get some (possibly with some mounts). Are they legal and easy to mount?.
Standard 5 Door Shadow blue.

They're legal as long as they follow the other rules.
Letter size and spacing, manufacturers post code at the bottom in the middle, BS number bottom right, no pictures unless it's the GB.

I mount mine with double sided tape as I don't have the smooth grill.

If you have a smooth grill you can mount it with magnets if you want to remove it or suction cups.

Plus they must be reflective to be legal.

i've just fitted the smooth grill... what sort of magnets or suctions cups are you talking about? i'm thinking of getting a pressed plate and surround for the front

looking into it, i think the safest place to go is dubmeister. same price as the bay plus they are 100% legal with the correct spacing, retroflective material etc. some of the others on ebay which claim to be legal aren't always necessarily telling the truth

Have a search on here mate, I haven't done it.
Glue strong magnets to the back of the grill.

Suction cups I'm not to sure about but someone on here has it done. Can't remember his name, sure it's on a red edition 30

was looking into these badboys...

but they sound pretty hardcore and don't want to mess up anything electrical!

Got a link or an item number. I can't seem to find the same ones, just the usual Wolfsburg ones.
Cheers

Just search for VW golf Gti plate surround/holder and you should get a few different ones. I was the same and wanted something a bit different from the usual Wolfsburg etc. Mine are German manufactured but from a uk seller. Seller was "numberplatesurrounds"
