Faulty Cruise Control, Stalk Has been Replaced, Any Ideas?
« on: June 29, 2015, 07:48:45 pm »
Bought my mk5 2007 GTI DSG around 2 months ago, it had an intermittent fault where the green light on the dash wouldn't illuminate. Replaced the stalk at a VW garage in Gosport last week, the Green cruise control now illuminates every time i flick the switch however it won't set the speed, so now i have a working cruise control stalk but no cruise control. The garage had no idea what the problem is and wouldn't know what to do, so instead of having a heafty bill, i decided to look elsewhere. Has anyone else had an issue like this? Would it be worth changing the Brake Light Switch even though the brake lights operate fine? If so, where would i find information on this job? Vag com showed no problems with the system. Any help would be appreciated!

Check which steering wheel control module you have. There are a few that say they are highline but still have compatibility issues.

Also check your buttons in the measuring blocks in the steering wheel channel.

i would've questioned the compatibility but it wouldn't even set before the repair either. could it be a funny connection with the Brake Light Switch? Would a remap affect it, i had it remapped at AMD in essex a few weeks ago.

thanks
