Clicking / Crunching / Creaking noise when braking
« on: July 17, 2015, 02:32:56 pm »
I think the noise is coming from the rear brakes.  Is it a common thing on MK5s?   I did notice whilst checking for rear wheel bearing play a while ago that the offside rear wheel was creaking when rotated (handbrake off).  Couldn't figure out where it was coming from, but guessing it's related?

Binding rear caliper(s), almost certainly.

Ridiculously common on these cars!
