Carlan450 Edition 30 #787 - Ethanol testing done
« on: July 02, 2015, 08:08:46 am »
How I havent joined this site yet is beyond me as I am a bit of a MK5 GTI pervert haha.

I bought this ED30 in March and have been enjoying every moment with it since.
When I bought it the spec included:
-Manual gearbox(although DSG is fantastic I perfer the feel of a manual gearchange)
-Xenons
-RNS510 Sat nav
-Auto wipers,lights and cruise control
-Armrest with ipod connection
-4 pot brembos up front
-Uprated HPFP
-ITG cold air intake
- Full turbo back milltek exhaust resonated with 200cell high flow cat.
-A reasonable map making 290ish BHP

So far I have gotten it detailed, cleaned the bay, quick repair over exhaust on bumper, those wheels are just temporary until the originals are restored. Also had to replace the troublesome pcv.

To date I have:
-Upgraded the clutch to Sachs Performance clutch with pressure plate and a new DMF
-Fitted the wavetrac LSD.
-Purchased the RS4 fuel pressure relief valve

Future Plans:
-Clean the intake ports as they are caked in carbon. (anyone got experience with the terraclean process for this?)
-Fit the rs4 fuel return valve
-Get the car on the dyno for a power run and maybe a little tweak.

Bit of an update.

Bought a set of Bilstein PSS10 and H&R anti roll bar, hopefully this will stiffen it up a little as the H&R monotubes are just too  soft and with a track day coming up need a better setup.

Finally got the car up onto the dyno and ive gotta say the figures disappointed, it made 271bhp and about 300lbft. The map that is on it is well capable of 320+bhp. The plan is to do a full inlet clean as a boroscope revealed some bad caking, gut the cat and finally add the RS4 fuel return valve.
Hopefully this will get the car into better figures.

As said I'd be considering changing the map, not sure what's available near you? Also before you gut the cat have you thought about just buying a decat pipe and selling your one on?

That my irish forum signature I guess it doesn't quite translate the same in UK regarding tuning. For correct terms its TDR remap. Equivalent to Rtec in UK. The map is fine.
Going to upgrade the DV to revision G also.

The maket for edition 30 bits isnt great in Ireland and unfortunately I am under some time restraint to get the car running right. I still have the full standard exhaust for my National Car Test so im not too worried. Plus if under inspection it shows that the cat has collapsed it need to be gutted anyway.

Lovely looking Edition 30 mate, I've seen it at a few shows this year, including Castlewellan the other week. Never got the chance to say hello.
Its a nice change to see a car built for go, rather than show over here. :)

Thanks for comment Wayne. Always wondered who owned the pirelli. Was it parked beside the door in the small hall in Dubshed? Ye despite liking aesthetics i really am a power hungry man. There is always titanic dubs if you go?

Paul.

Yeah that was it, parked just at the side door to the shed.

Yes plan on going to Titanic Dubs, then I guess that's it really for the year. Most of the bigger shows over here seem to be over very early this year.

Sweet ride!  :happy2:
Love those Allegeritta wheels, they are miles better that the originals (Allegerita ~8Kg VS OEM BBS Pescara ~11.3Kg) and they look.... Why change them?

@teo_parvu thanks yes I love the wheels but they are wider than wanted with a et35 offset and they will be going on my other build eventually which will have slightly wider arches to allow for the extra width.

That explains it!  :happy2: I also had some et35 wheels for one week, they were too much:

There are some alternatives like Kerscher or SRS-Tec Fenders, but is to much of a headache. SRS-Tec Fenders are on my wishlist but for running my  ET45 TD with 235 tyres.

Are you getting the bbs pescara refurbed in Ireland?

Was it back on Joe's dyno you got them figures of 271?

@ColinMk4 Yes I got them refurbished in Wheelwizards in Finglas and was very happy with the result. The car was dyno'd at blackchurch in Rathcoole again which is pretty damn accurate and tends to put wild power claims to bed.
