Iv just painted mine using E-Tech paint i was quite impressed with it, dries within 30 mins for recoat and a nice smooth finish
They were previously painted using Foliatec paint + hardener, was also impressed with this but it dries as more of a plastic feeling when dry
With both paints i used a flat artist brush as it gives a fantastic smooth finish and makes getting into small spaces easier
For the backs i removed the calipers and pads for the fronts i removed the anti rattle clip
depending on how good of a painter you are you don't really need to mask anything for painting with a brush (I'm a decorator so i didn't mask)
If you go the spray route then EVERYTHING needs to be masked that you don't want painting
