Fitting number plate surrounds to smooth grill

Anyone know the best way to do this? I carefully shaped the surround with pressed plate inside to suit the slight curve on the mk5's smooth grill and attached with number plate adhesive strips but came out 30mins later to see it had come away on the sides because of the flex. What's the best way to fit these? I've heard suggestions of magnets and suckers but can't see them being strong enough for everyday use?!

Iv done this on my Leon, I removed all the the old sticky tape first made sure the surface was clean.
Fixed my plates using 2x screws in the middle and used 3M VHB double sided sticky tape. they ain't budged

I used magnets on my pressed plate to hold it to the car, it survived thousands of miles without even moving about. Remember, each little magnet holds a few kg of weight, so a single kilo help with several magnets goes no where.

I was sceptical when I did it, but it really works well. And it means you can remove the plate at shows and then put it back on before driving home with no fuss or tools needed.

Can you remember what kg pull they were? Any bits of electricals around there to worry about mate?
