@ Scarpicus...............

I drilled two tiny holes in the plate and attached it with teeny tiny tie wraps. Was only going to be tempory but I liked it.  :happy2:

I may have issues with cooling in very hot weather as it may block some air going to the rad. If so I can move it!

That will do a grand job of blocking cold air to the intercooler too  :happy2:

i must admit there is a chav who runs a silver corsa in my town with a square plate, but he's got a corsa and im driving a GTI Pirelli, so .... at the end of the day he can scoff me off!  :booty:

The type of car does not dictate whether someone is a chav or not mate. Its what they do to it that makes it chavvy.

If you think he is a bit of a chav for having a square plate, then I would tend to agree. However, I would look at any car with a square plate that never came from the factory with one and think it was chavvy, regardless of whether it was a Corsa, a Golf or a BMW. Each to their own, but I think you have ruined the look of the front of your car with that plate. Sorry.

Loved this on mine a while ago.. Very much not legal though, even though you could read it way easier than any of the messed about it plates, of which most people get away with!

Unfortunately I was stopped twice in 3 days, so decided to take it off, as it had already cost me £60 lol..

To be fair to Strat, whilst his choice of front number plate solution is not to my tastes (although I'm sure my plate isn't to his liking either!), it does look better in real life. The problem with those photos is because he has blanked out all of the digits, it just looks like a very lost, random and misplaced white square....

so would u say its not wise to put the plate halfway down smooth grill part so would only block half of honeycomb part or would that be ok

No, I was saying that he is a chav who happens to drive a car with a square plate. I wasn't saying anyone who drives a car with a square plate is a chav because that would mean I would be calling myself a chav, when in reality I couldn't be further from one. The fact is a square plate on a gti works because the car is good enough to enable one to get away with it. It's a shame your so quick to judge someone based on the shape of their number plate.  :congrats:

Luckily, I haven't ruined the look of the front of my car because that would require some sort of permenent alteration, which this is not.

Chris is right in that the car looks a lot better in reality. I can certainly vouch for the fact that I get a lot of positive comments about the car which includes the look with the plate, so it isn't as devasting to it's looks as some people love to point out. In actual fact I think it gets more attention because it doesn't look like every other GTI out there!

Be different I say, you can't be the don by being the same as everyone else!

He was John but I think he got stopped in Spain of all places when he was driving to Portugal! The local fed's escorted him to the nearest garage and made the mechanics there drill number plate holes through his nice shiny unmolested carbon grill and screw the plate on!

He doesn't have much look with the five-o does our Joe, ask him about the tire incident last week  :xmassmiley:
