Gmaster's steel grey GTI
« on: July 06, 2015, 09:13:21 pm »

Newbie here had my mk5 gti for just 3weeks.
brought it from this forum and the owner before was on here and owned it for four years.
Any way it's a import car with a high spec just what I was after and in the right colour.
Came with FSH and loads of paper work it's had cam follower, cam belt water pump done DV, etc.
But it's not a good start to MK5 gti ownership...
Noticed the dreaded diesel knock sound when I was driving it home!!
Then battery died on me...a week later
Went in for a service and they had a problem with the oil filter a part broken from pervious service so oil not being filtered properly!!
I've hardy driven the car and now it's been at the garage for last 3 days
Should get it back tomorrow, but still won't drive it till I get the cam chain done which was diagnosed !!

I'm just hoping once the cam chain is sorted I can start to enjoy the car..
The cost so far is scary... Battery £100, service plus extra part for filter £200,
Cam chain some where between 600- £900!!!
 :sad1:

Had MOT today failed but only on a cv boot , so had that done and all good.
Got the rust on front wing sorted, still a few little niggles and still needs a good Da polish.

How'd you address the rust mate? Noticed two small bubbles on my own. If vw don't sort it I'm prepared to save And get it done.

Thanks mate.

I've Been enjoying driven it recently.
Thought I'd post up some specs of the car -

07 Steel grey DSG (import car)
DSG with paddles
18" Monza alloys
Stage 1 remap, Cat back milltek exhaust
Sunroof fully electric
MFSW
Full footwell lighting
Puddle lights with folding mirrors
Xenon headlights with heated washers
Colour coded rear bumper and side skirts
Front splitter colour coded
Blue tinted glass
Auto dimming mirror
Electric drivers seat
Parking sensors
Auto lights / wipers
Armrest with 6 Cd changer
Cruise control
Digital dual climate control
Storage tray under front passenger seat
RNS510 with sat nav
Factory Bluetooth with microphone
Powerflex front bushes, lower engine mount.

Still a few things I want to get sorted all in time
Alloys need refurbing ( very expensive )though may just get new ones as I want to keep them diamond cut .
