MK5 2.0 TFSI BYD Oil Cooler?
« on: July 07, 2015, 05:24:57 pm »
Hello

Im trying to fit and external oil cooler to my ED30 BYD 2.0 TFSI but it has the rectangle oil cooler instead of the round type that is easy to get the sandwich plate for.

Does anyone know a solution to resolve this?

Thanks in advance...

one side of the rectangluar braided pipes would go to one of the takes off from the snadwich plate

There is no sandwich plate available unfortunately.

No one know of anyone that has done this before?

ok i think you'll need a sandwich plate then. sandwich plate goes under the oil filter. the plate should have a few take of pipes where you screw you oil cooler hose into

Will a sandwich plate work with our filters?
I haven't done my own filter changes but isn't it an element inside a housing rather than a screw on canister?

Gone but not forgotten :-)

Yeah that's the problem. I can't find a solution. I know what to do but can't find anyone to supply a way to tap off the oil threw the cooler. Ideally a thermostatic type too.

I can put a kit together.  Removes the original oil/water cooler and replaces it with a plate.  We use an inline thermostat and a 16 row mocal oil cooler.
