Remap detectives/Gurus ?!?!
« on: July 08, 2015, 09:51:34 am »
To the knowledgeable guys amongst us  :notworthy:

Does anyone know which company may be responsible for the following power run, I bought my Edition 30 as what I thought was standard, stuck it on the rollers and she returned this.

Engine Power - 281.7 BHP
Max Torque - 301.2 lbf.ft

Standard air filter, and only a cat back Milltek

Absolutely impossible to tell.

I would guess Superchips/Bluefin with that power.

Thought this would be the case,  :sad1:

Didn't know whether there would be distinctive curves for certain maps, will have to try and find out another way.

Cheers @xjay1337

You can map 5 cars with the same map and they will all have slightly different curves.

Bought mine already mapped, which also made 280hp.  After interrogating the ECU, it was a Revo map.

Why are you so keen to find out which firm did it ?, does it make any difference ?, I would have thought after putting it on the rollers and seeing it runs ok it makes no odds ?. Once you find out what will you do then ?, do you want to map it back to stock and hope the tuner has the original file ?

I'm keen to find out as I have since added a Revo intake, and looking at TBE and will want to map these in to get the optimum from my car, finding out who mapped it to adjust it or step up to stage 2 makes a lot more (financial) sense than starting over with different software but thanks for the helpful comment :rolleye:

That remap curve is no way superchips stage 1.
Ive had bluefin before, and it's categorically not Superchips.
That is a clone curve of a stock remap.

Bluefin remaps are known to be very spikey in delivery,

That looks looks like a man in a van has just taken the stock map and cut copy and pasted an overlay of the stock map.

It's not a mainstream mapper like revo or RTech or APR's work.

Thanks @SteveEd30 I guessed this may be the case, having driven a Revo'd S3 the power delivery seems far more predictable, where the power kicks in, and consistent than I find with the Edition (granted the quattro will have an effect on this)

Think you are overthinking it mate
Have it fresh stage 2 mapped at rtech would be what i would do...

That's my point exactly, just get a new map to suite your mods. Tuners don't sign their calibration files so unless you phone every tuner with your reg number in the hope they say they tuned it.  just pick a tuner and get a new one. Can't you call the previous owner and ask if you are that worried ?, however there is no advantage to knowing who tuned it as even the tuner who did it first time (if you can find them)will likely charge you for another map and give you a competly new file. It's no advantage for them if you are in their stage 1, someone elses stage 1 or stock. They start from scratch.
