Rough running, lots of negative pressure
« on: July 09, 2015, 01:18:15 pm »
Hi All,

Needs some advice from experts please..

08 Gti

Car was running very rough, bad idle up and down, and random misfire. It was driving ok, but on low revs it was hunting like mad.

Now when the engine is running, there is lots of suction coming from dipstick, and the oil cap is literally impossible to remove when the engine is running due a massive vacuum.

We replaced the PCV valve, and the engine seems to run better, no rough idle any more, but the strong vacuum is still there.

After a few testdrives, done a scan and it recorded misfire on cyl3. I will work on maybe swapping the coilpacks and see if the misfire moves onto next cylinder so I can eliminate the problem.

Any ideas please, im worried about this suction on the dipstick and the oil cap.

Thanks in advance,
