Air Con maintenance
« on: July 07, 2015, 12:40:59 pm »
How can I look after my air con to stop it breaking. Someone told me to keep the air con on all year round? However this wastes fuel, I dont mind keeping it on sometimes. Also is an air con service worth it every 2 years?

Climate control just pops the compressor on as and when needed, so barely impacts mpg at all.   If you set it to "LO" (i.e. compressor on permanently) and it's very hot outside, then that might rob you of a 1 -2 mpg at most.

Yep my mobile Aircon specialist friend said particularly on the vag stuff it has very little effect on the mpg at all

I Use mine alot and can't say ive really seen any difference even with it on low for 400 mile round trip last weekend it still returned nearly 40mpg at around 80mph  :happy2:
