1st gear selecting problems 6speed 2.0 GT TDi

Our Mk5 2.0 GT TDi is being a pain in the arse.
It is 6 Speed manual box.
Finding it hard selecting first gear, even with the engine off and the clutch down first gear is the only one that is hard to get into.
Could this just be an alignment problem? Or something else?
 How easy or hard is it to check alignment and realign the linkage?

Now that's not something I've had with mine, how old is your GT and has it had a replacement clutch in yet? What milage has it done? How high is the biting point?  There are so many variables.


Or is it I'm olde school when it comes to these problems and trying to diagnose them?

The car is 2005 on 130k and hasn't had a clutch to my knowledge, But the clutch itself feels good and with a nice low biting point.
