Xenon help - can this be fixed?
« on: July 09, 2015, 09:08:23 pm »
I've picked up a set of xenon headlights and on one of them the casing around the edge of the projector has come apart. Can this be repaired? There's a plastic white clip in there too.

Have a look at this thread

I think you might be snookered with the little white plastic bit, iirc that part holds the frame that carries the projector.... Is the frame secured or is it moving around?

Thanks, can't believe I didn't see that thread!

So I can get into it from the back and then fix it back into position?

The frames secure, can't tell where the white clip as come from after comparing it with my other headlight?

Cheers guys, I'll have a go after work today. Slightly concerned about the white clip though.

Lol, if you look at the second pic you can see the white clip sat at the bottom of the projector.

I'll get better pics this evening when I take it apart

That to me looks like where the actual projector bit clips into.  When you take off your igniter and bulb,  does the projector unit move about?  It should be clipped into the white plastic and locked into place. Bit like a ball joint. If that white plastic has come off and is loose then you will need to figure out how to put it back on.

Got the projector out this evening and fixed the plastic casing back, PITA!

Managed to get the plastic white clip out too, still not sure where it's from? It doesn't look like it's been screwed to anything like the white clip that holds the projector frame.

Actually, forget that. After comparing it with my other headlight it definitely is part of the frame. I've taken the frame out and put the clip back on however I don't think it's right as it doesn't move at all now that it's back in the light.

It should move up and down, right?

The seller has offered me a refund so I might just return it as I'm not too confident this will be right once fitted.
