Electrical issues...
« on: May 25, 2015, 05:16:38 pm »
Been have battery drain for everyday now, so i finally got abit of free time today to have a look at the car. 1st off my drivers xenon headlight has give up on me, not sure if this has something to do with my drain, but prior to it giving up my bulb warning light was telling me my reverse light had gone, when it was fine, then it told me my rear fog light had gone, didnt get round to checking weather it had, but light has gone off telling that it had blown. (So has reverse light)
Xenon headlight has gone, will sometimes fire up, flicker then go off and stay off (new ballast on its way)
Rear led numberplate bulbs will come on and go off when start car.
Now my washer jets are not working on front and rear screen but headlight ones do, also rear wiper wont work but front wipers do.
Checked all fuses on side of dash and underbonnet.
Ive read up online about this kl30 relay so ive just pulled it out, it was quiet hot when i pulled it out.
Ive currently got a volt meter on the battery and the readings have stayed the same at 12.77v for past 45mins. So drain seems to have stopped,
Does this relay play any part of the lights or wipers.
Ive asked my mate with vdcs to scan it but he says he to busy!!

Sounds like a knackered earth wire in your tailgate loom or somewhere else in the car. I had bulb out warnings/no wiper/tailgate wouldn't open problems at the rear of the car and that's what it was.

It was inside the loom. Top left of your boot it's covered by the rubber. Wire had broken due to excessive opening/closing.
