Ecu and Dsg remaps
« on: July 12, 2015, 06:31:53 pm »
Had it on the car a while now so thought I'd give some feedback on the engine and Dsg maps niki put on my facelift S3

My car was previously running a revo stage2+ engine map which made 355bhp/345lbs at Surrey rolling road

I was happy with how the car running but wanted to get the Dsg mapped too as I'd had a ride in a friends Ed30 whose Dsg had been mapped by niki at it felt so much better

Looked into Dsg maps and revo wanted around £500 for just a Dsg map whilst talking to niki I could get both engine and Dsg done for the same money

So the revo was taken off and took the drive up to rtech, after Niki had worked his magic the car made 355bhp/400lbs and had a fantastic curve and could obviously feel the difference with the extra torque

Unfortunately on the day the dsg was locking niki out so he told me to wait to hear from him and he'd let me know when he had updated files

I went back a few weeks ago, Niki managed to squeeze me in and covered my fuel costs for having to return which I was impressed with  :happy2:

Dsg was mapped and he also did a Dsg reset, which sounds awful with all the clonks and clunks  :scared:

Initially the car felt a bit awkward and stuttered a bit but I'd heard it would do this after a reset until it re learns my driving and sure enough by the next day it was a lot smoother and felt great

Gear changes are lightning quick and my launch revs have been raised to 4.2k which takes off like a stabbed rat  :driver:

Many thanks to niki for going the extra mile to help me out and making my car feel even better

High recommend them

@th3_f15t R-Tech may be worth considering now for your R, with the DSG map being included also

Stop bullying me into breaking the "will stay stock" plans for my Golf R. It's not like I've already got 6 piston breaks on order...

*sigh*

I'll book in after Christmas then... :sad1:

Moving over to Flickr, sorry for the broken picture links!

Have you seen how shiny a TTE420 looks

Don't take this personally, but shut up! I will not upgrade my turbo...

Maybe a hybrid, but THAT'S IT...

*Google searches a TTE420"

Ooh, err... Maybe I can sell something off...

:sad1: My name is the Fist and I have a modifying problem.

I've been in discussion with someone one here about tuning tips, building up a nice list of things to do to the Golf R so far... And I haven't even done 50 miles in the month I've owned it yet!
