Re-attaching rear view mirror - Help!!

Has anyone done this before? I've managed to knock the rear view mirror clean off the glass, with the rain sensor in the middle this is going to be a pain in the @ss to do I know, hence I want to get it right first time.

What products to use, method, etc. VW don't do a self-adhesive pad for it, I've checked

I know when this happens were I work (VW) we end up replacing the screen 
Had a old lady with a jetta who did it and we tried to re stick it but it came off again later down the line so ended up having a new screen, there bonded to the window on most on them now
Someone on here may have a suggestion for you tho! Good luck and I hope it gets sorted

Try ''No More Nails'' double sided sticky pads. Couple of  quid  from Homebase.

Or, go to your local Autoglass centre, get chatting to them and see what they can do - they did one for me ages ago (no on current car) FOC - but I gave them some beer tokens for doing it.

It can be done, Autoglass fitted an new screen in my car and fooked up refitting the mirror so got them back out re-do it. took about 5 mins and as said are bonded on with a clear sealant

There's a branch in town, maybe I'll have a scoot down there tomorrow and try my luck. Heard sticky pads means it'll vibrate all over the place and even then it'll eventually fall off!

If you cant get them to do it you can buy a product that's specifically for this.

I've just managed to do the same thing and knock my rear view mirror off the glass, but think I've also managed to damage the sensor in the process.

Anyone any idea how much it's likely to cost me to replace the sensors and repair/re-glue the mirror?

Also, any suggestions about a good workshop in the Sussex area who could do the work?  The windscreen itself is not damaged and so I want to avoid having to replace that, if possible.  Cheers!

Loctite 319 will do the trick

My '70 Mercury Cougar has its rear view mirror stuck on. When I replaced the screen 7 years ago I stuck it on after using vinegar to clean the area. It's not budged since, it's a big heavy mirror too. If you're interested i'll try and find out what I used, got the receipt in a box upstairs.
